Magdalena Dunowska
I have veterinary qualifications from Warsaw Agricultural University (Poland). Following my PhD in veterinary virology (Massey University), I spent 6 years in the United States working as a postdoctoral fellow and infection control officer for the veterinary teaching hospital at Colorado State University. While in the States, I have also passed qualifying exams for veterinary registration, and completed a clinical internship in large animal medicine and surgery. In 2006 I moved to Australia, where after a short time spent in a general practise, I took up a position as a virology section leader at the state veterinary diagnostic laboratory in Melbourne. In January 2008 I returned to Massey University as a senior lecturer in virology. I currently teach virology to undergraduate veterinary students and supervise a number of postgraduate students. My past and current research has been focused on infectious agents of veterinary and public health importance. I have extensive experience in both molecular and traditional virological techniques. My special interest is investigation of novel viral pathogens.
